How it works: pixels close to the background color become transparent
The tool reads every pixel of the image and computes its color distance from the chosen background color. Pixels closer than the tolerance threshold become transparent directly; pixels slightly beyond the threshold are smoothed through feathering.
The whole process runs locally in your browser — no cloud service involved, and no image is uploaded.
How to choose the background color?
Choose "White" for white-background images, "Green" for green-screen material, "Blue" for blue screens, and use "Custom" to pick a color for any other solid background.
The more accurate the pick, the lower the chance of eating into the edges of the subject.
What tolerance and feathering do
Tolerance decides how close is close enough to count as background: small tolerance removes only nearly identical colors; large tolerance also removes similar colors but may hurt the subject.
Edge feathering creates a gradual transition between transparent and kept areas, reducing white fringes and jagged edges. Keeping it on is usually recommended.
Which images suit background removal?
Suitable: ID photos with solid backgrounds, product images, green-screen/blue-screen material, white-background screenshots.
Not suitable: photographic backgrounds, gradient backgrounds, or images where the background color is close to the subject — use an AI cutout tool for those instead.
