Rotation and flipping are basic, frequently used image operations. This guide explains what each rotation angle and flip direction is for, and how to combine them.
How to choose a rotation angle?
90° and 270°: correct photos taken sideways, or turn an image to the orientation you need.
180°: for upside-down images or cases needing a full turnaround.
Horizontal flip vs vertical flip
Horizontal flip: mirrors left to right. Often used to fix text direction, reverse a composition, or create symmetric assets.
Vertical flip: mirrors top to bottom. Used for special visual effects or correcting the orientation of scanned documents.
Can I rotate and flip at the same time?
Yes. The tool supports rotating then flipping (or flipping then rotating), and the combined result is reflected in the preview in real time so you can confirm the effect directly.
Note that the orientation after rotation and flipping needs a manual check — for example, text direction changes accordingly.
FAQ
Does rotation lose quality?
Rotations of 90°, 180°, and 270° do not lose quality — pixels are only rearranged.
Does flipping damage the original image?
No. The tool generates a new file from the original, which stays unchanged.
Does the file get bigger after rotation?
Generally no. Rotation only rearranges pixels, so file size stays about the same as before.
Are images uploaded to a server?
No. All processing happens locally in your browser.
Is batch processing supported?
Yes. Select multiple files to rotate/flip in batch and download them as a ZIP.
Why is the text direction wrong after rotation?
Rotation changes the overall orientation of the image. For images containing text, pick 90°/180°/270° as needed or use the flip function to correct it.
